Wayne May’s parents acquired the former George Lamb property in east Jackson in the early 1960s. The Lambs had raised Palomino horses there and built the original barn, still on the May Park property.
Mr. May lived on and worked the land, growing hay and boarding horses.
In 1982, Wayne May married Selma Parnes, who worked across the way at the Pioneer Homestead Apartments. In 1990, Wayne and Selma May generously sold the approximately 10-acre property to the Town of Jackson at one third its appraised market value, a wonderful gift to the people of Jackson, specifically for a park. At the time, the land was valued at $1.2 million.
